Purpose

We want to spread the awareness of the unique nature of the Pacific Northwest, where people have always blazed their own trails. We hold that it is once again time to consider our commonwealth, to speak for a sustainable future separate from the suicidal path of environmental, spiritual and societal destruction inherent in the rise of the corporate state.

Applied Moronics

Stupid is as stupid does - and invading Iraq is about as stupid a thing as we could do. Bush’s obsession with tough talk and empire building is preparing a disaster about to be unleashed on an unwilling world. Hussein is a monster, without doubt, but Bush is so obsessed with cowboy politics that he won’t consider or even admit that there is any alternative to the massive use of military force.

Of course, there will be massive casualties among the Iraqi military and civilians, and possibly among US troops if chemical or biological weapons are used by eather side. And Bush refuses to rule out the use of nuclear weapons with the same smirk on his face that you saw when he said he wouldn’t commute the sentence of someone about to be executed when he was governor of Texas.

As usual, he doesn’t seem to care about the consequences of anything he or his administration does or says. A head of state of a foreign country who doesn’t bow to U.S. hegemony is a “pygmie”. Our longtime European allies are contemptuously dismissed as “Old Europe” when they try to stop Bush from getting his war. The Iraqis are likely to blow up the oil wells again and cause an environmental disaster, but since this administration doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the environment, so what. This war will cause most of the Islamic world to band together to oppose us. What does it matter, as long as they fear us? Fuck ‘em. Since Bush and his cronies have rolled back such things as gas mileage standards, we will be hostage to oil embargoes to fuel our gas-sucking SUVs. Oh well, Iraq’s oil fields will belong to our corporate masters…
